Laswa Recipe

Laswa is a native Ilonggo recipe made entirely of vegetables with a medium-sized dish as its “sahog.” It is similar to that of the Dinengdeng of the Ilocanos and the Bulanglang of the Batangueños.

Instructions

  1. Bring water to a boil
  2. Add fresh shrimps
  3. When shrimps turn pinkish, add squash and okra and simmer for 2-5 minutes or until squash is slightly tender
  4. Add string beans and eggplant and simmer for 2 minutes
  5. Add patola and simmer for 1 minute
  6. Season with salt to taste
  7. Turn off heat and add the saluyot so it won’t get overcooked.
  8. Serve immediately while hot

Notes

Note: There are no measurements in this recipe since you just throw-in the available vegetable ingredients and adjust the seasoning (esp. salt) on the number of vegetables.
